             Your Pet Got Flea?

Dealing with fleas and ticks is one of a pet owner's biggest problem. ( I KNOW!!)
Here I'd like to share the ideas to take care of your pet without the chemical use.

    Homeopathic remedies for Flea:

Unfortunately, there is little that homeopathy can offer for flea control other than constitutional treatment
to improve health and resistance to fleas.

    Plulex irritans
a remedy made from the human flea.  Improve resistance.

    Sulphur
most often associated with flea infestation. It suggested that a spray made of Sulphur 30c in water will
    repel fleas.

    Ledum palustre
a remedy for insect bites and puncture wounds, may work on some reactions to the flea bite.

    Caladium
a remedy for insect bites that sting and burn excessively. It may help some animals who are especially
    sensitive to flea bites.

    Natural remedies for Flea:

Bathing plays a major role in pet grooming, one of the safest and most effective ways to control fleas,
which are killed by the soap and water. But don’t bathe your pets too often, because bathing can dry the
skin. Unless your adult dog is unusually dirty, a bathe every month or two is plenty.
However, in the case o fa bad flea infestation, skin problems or discharges, you may want to bather the
animal every weeks. Select a good-quality castile soap or natural pet shampoo containing flea and insect
    repellent herbs.
Or you can make your own insect-repellent shampoo!

    Here is the recipes~**

    Insect-repellent shampoo
Add a few drops of essential oil (pennyroyal or eucalyptus or tea tree oil) to a bottle of natural shampoo or
castile soap. (Do not apply these oils directly to the skin! They are too irritating)

    Vinegar-Water Rinse
After rinse your pet thoroughly with plain water, follow with a vinegar water rinse(1 tbs white vinegar to 1
pint warm water). It removes soap residue and helps prevent dandruff. Pour on the solution, rubbing
throughout the fur. Then rinse again with plain water.

    Flea Buster Deodorant
  • 8 Oz Water
  • 4-6 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
  • 4-6 Drops of Lavendar Oil

Mix and place in a spray bottle, keep by the door to spritz as you or your pet go outside to deter fleas and
mosquitoes. Lightly spray bedding and outdoor kennels to deter fleas and mosquitoes.

    Rosemary Conditioner
Rosemary tea makes excellent conditioner that promotes a glossy coat and helps to repel fleas.

  • 1teaspoon dried rosemary(or 1 tbs fresh)
  • 1pint boiling water
Combine and steep for 10 minutes, coverd. Strain and cool to body temperature.
Pour it over your pet after the final rinse. Rub in and towel dry without further rinsing.

Natural skin tonic : Lemon skin tonic
Thinly slice a whole lemon, including the peel. Add it to 1 pint of near-boiling water and let it steep over
night. The next day, sponge the solution onto the animal’s skin and let it dry.

You can use this daily for sever skin problems involving fleas. It is a source of natural flea-killling
substances like d-limonene and other healing ingredients found in the whole lemon.

Notes:15 drops of fennel, garlic, lavender, pennyroyal, rosemary, sage, or sandalwood liquid extract
can be added to the skin tonic. One or even several of these herbs will boost the anti-flea properties of this
citrus spray. I would not use the lavender and eucalyptus on cats as they can be toxic to cats.

    Diet:

  • Add brewer’s yeast to the diet.

Some studies show yeast supplementation  significantly reduces flea numbers, though some indicate
no effect.  I recommend this if the animal’s health is good. You can also rub it directly into the pat’s
    hair.

  • Add garlic to the diet.

Give one clove of crushed raw garlic daily for each 10pounds of body weight.
Notes: some animals are allergic to yeast or garlic, and may develop diarrhea or skin problems.

    Environmental control:

  • Steam clean your carpets at the onset of flea season. Though it is somewhat expensive, steam
cleaning is effective in killing flea eggs.

  • Thoroughly vacuum and clean floors and furniture at least once a week to pick up flea eggs,  larvae
    and pupae. Mop the floors.

  • Launder your pet’s bedding in hot, soapy water at least once a week. Dry on maximum heat. Heat
will kill all stages of flea life, including eggs.
