| Dear George, September 11, 2006 Thanks for “Stream of our becoming”. ---Many shades of colors, movements…it is a harmony of all beings. You see this vision from over the stream, don’t you? I wish I could be there. I thought about what Paul Klee said, “Art does not reproduce the visible, but makes visible.” It is interesting that you said, “It is the will of the artist to break out of his own skin.” Before I made the commitment to be an artist, I used to ask the same question to everyone I met “Why do you do what you are doing now?” I have not got any answers as simple as you just explained. Indeed, it is “the will”. Will is individual. Paul Klee also described so perfectly about individuality, “Individuality is not of the substance of elements. It is organism, invisibly occupied by elementary objects of a divergent character: If you were to attempt division, these parts would die.” I felt “the will” in your stream. My reply is “a will”. |

I thank you for offering me to keep your paintings and you keep mine. It is very generous of you. I am so happy to know that you think
my works are treasure to you.
I want to explain very carefully how I think about this project here. And please let me know what you think about it openly. I
understand if you do not feel the same way especially since we were not clear each other’s thoughts at the beginning.
First, I am simply enjoying this conversation with your images right now.
I understand the problem with making the book----two artists and one book. The problem is that two artists cannot possess one, isn’t it?
Do you remember we started this project to have art show together? After we lost the opportunity to have the show at Oasis Coffee
House, we still wanted to have a show together. We wanted to do something more meaningful for that two artists do the show
together. I am still hoping it will happen sometime. I believe we have found each other for some reason.
I think the point of this project is to let the potential of the communication through our art to appear. I am not expecting that we
understand nor compliment nor analyze each other’s view (image) as usual communication level, but “reverberate” freely.
At this stage, to decide how to present our works might be too early…but thinking about ideas might open new doors.
I don’t know how this conversation goes or ends. Maybe we should set the last number of this conversation…like 88images?
I believe that eventually this project will take its own way (…maybe with a little push by us?). When I paint, I try to let “the will” in it to
reverberate to others...I am just a tool for this will, which ( I guess) is the reason that I can’t make same one again. I do not think I own
my works from the beginning but I do have responsibility for its direction. At this moment, I don’t feel I have done enough with my
works yet, so I cannot tell you my works are yours. I hope you understand what I mean.
