No.47 "some thoughts" by George(04/19/2008) |
| Dear Rin, When we were walking from the restaurant to your car there was a thought I tried to express but only half of it somehow came out. When I said that completely liberate the creative from commercial intentions (one half thought) what I didn’t say is that compliment is also true, the commercial side of myself (the part of me that likes to eat food and otherwise partake I our physical side and otherwise partake in our physical existence, which in our society or civilization, when it comes down to it, requires money) We are all materialistic in the sense we want to live on the earth matter (matter-mother)-purely aesthetic and creative interest to look at what I have made and say- (after they have been done and rested on the shelf a while) maybe I can sell these, that would be a good thing-then I can eat. Well, if you can’t eat, you can’t paint. ** Another thought and I wonder if you experience anything like this? Even though it is I who make these paintings there is a sense that in some big way that I am being asked to paint or explore a certain realm of creative experience. If I ask: who is asking? It is a maze of speculation and an unfruitful undertaking. It is something that is an over all experience, this experience of being ASKED. Love&Peace, George April 19 2008 |
